DECEMBER 7TH 1941
Jake Jaekel
River City Chapter 6

December 7th - "Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day"- is clearly the time when we gather ourselves together to give the true meaning to the existence of our organization.

The preamble to the PHSA Constitution and By - Laws states "band ourselves together for the purpose of promoting and promulgating the obligations of citizenship and patriotism

Public Law 99 - 119 Federal Charter Grant to the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association SEC. 3. Reads, the purposes of the corporation shall include the following:

1. To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.

2. To collate, preserve, and encourage the Study of historical episodes, chronicles, mementos, and events pertaining to "The Day of Infamy, 7 December, 1941", and in particular those memories and records of the patriotic service performed by the heroic Pearl Harbor Survivors and Non-Survivors.

Public Law 103 - 308 Joint Resolution Designates December 7th each year as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and the President is authorized and requested:

1. To issue annually a proclamation calling on the people of the United States to observe the day with appropriate ceremonies and activities; and

2. To urge all Federal Agencies, and interested organizations, groups and individuals, to fly the flag of the United States at half staff each December 7th in honor of those individuals who died as a result of their service at Pearl Harbor.

We are all now getting older and wonder if we should participate in any December 7th Remembrance Day activities.

The answer is you are more and more revered by the younger generations and are all walking pieces of history.

December 7th 1941 was one of the most important events of the 20th century and people want you there.

They may not say anything but look at them and smile, wear your uniform and notice the attention you receive.
